Talk:The Easy Way: Installing MythBuntuBeta
From MythTV Book
Running the LiveCD MythBuntu
- Unless there's a specific reason to have the VirtualBox window decoration on the installation screenshots, remove it. I think it will confuse people. In the GIMP, there's an option to turn off capturing window decorations in screen shots - this will make it easier to do this next time. --PaulWay 20:29, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm happy to do this, but its going to be a lot of work (half a day?). Let's ship what we have and I'll fix this as soon as I can --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 03:16, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- Josh says he has new screen shots for this chapter, which is awesome. I've asked him to upload them. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 04:33, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Remote Controls and IR Transmitters
- The discussion here is a bit wishy washy. This is because I need to acquire more hardware before I can test this better. Unless someone else has hardware and wants to work on this part, I don't want to hold up the first version of this chapter for that content. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 05:22, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Partitions
- "If you want to use only a portion of the disk (either because you want to keep some of the data already on the disk, or because you want to have more than one operating system on the machine), then select the "Manual" option. Manual partitioning is an advanced topic and outside the scope of this book." Is this really the best advice for maintaining an existing partition? I have used "Guided - resize xxx and use freed space". This may not be the method the book recommends, but I feel its a better option to suggest than manually partitioning. --Josh Stewart (noisymime) 10:29, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
