Coverage of remote control setup

The coverage of lirc in this chapter is excellent, but most of it probably applies whether you install from source or through a package or mythbuntu. Does it make more sense to split the lirc info out to its own chapter or include it in a more generic configuration area? I'd be concerned that if someone was to go looking for info about lirc, this chapter is not somewhere they would think to read. --Josh Stewart (noisymime) 22:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
This is true, but I don't want to do it right now... I suspect there is a lot to say about remote controls, including things like WiiMotes. However, I'd like to get this chapter out the door and then reassess this later when a first cut of the entire book is complete. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 23:52, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
When I move the remote control stuff to it's own place, I need to update the lirc references in The Easy Way: Installing MythBuntu to point to the new location. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 05:18, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Wherever I end up doing a better remote control discuss, I should also include IR transmitters as well. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 05:32, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Page Intro

I note that in the page's intro you state that "by the end of the chapter you should be able to watch live TV, pause it, and change the channel." All of that may be true, but nowhere in the chapter does it tell you how to do any of that stuff. The chapter ends with MythTV installed, but not configured or particularly usable and there's nothing on how to do stuff like pause and change channels.
Fixed. I've moved configuration into its own chapter to ease the implementation of other Linux distributions later. --Michael Still, co-author of "Practical MythTV" 18:01, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
